What the CVSS bands mean here

The CVSS to bounty page needs a severity before it can read your table. It maps the score you enter to a band. That map is a writing aid on this site. A program may still treat the same score differently.

On these pages, 9.0 through 10.0 is Critical, 7.0 through 8.9 is High, 4.0 through 6.9 is Medium, and 0.1 through 3.9 is Low. A score below 0.1 is refused. After the band is chosen, the calculator uses the same geometric-mean formula as the home page, including the asset factor and the optional proof-of-concept bonus.

If your policy pays a critical bounty for an 8.8, do not fight the map. Open the Bug Bounty Calculator and choose Critical yourself. The CVSS page is for the common case where the score and the band already agree. It does not compute a full CVSS vector. You still bring the score from your own worksheet.
